Position 1

Title:   Landscape Designer                                                                                                                                 

Position Summary: Landscape Designer position at SCJ Studio Landscape Architecture, in our Ballard office, supporting a wide variety of projects, project managers and principals throughout SCJ Alliance. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  (The intent of this list is to provide information regarding the types of duties of the position, but it is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.)

  • Communicate with design team members
  • Perform site inventory and analysis including on-site investigations and mapping
  • Research code, regulations, or standards
  • Assist in the development of programs, schematics, and concepts
  • Draft and develop design drawings and construction documents (by hand and utilizing CAD, Adobe and LandFX software)
  • Assist in the development of construction specifications
  • Perform construction observation, review shop drawings, complete materials submittals
  • Deliver/retrieve project materials either on foot or by automobile
  • Design/develop communication materials (graphics, hand and computer)
  • Assist in the maintenance of project files (paper and digital)
  • Assist in the maintenance of digital file storage
  • Assist in the maintenance of digital libraries of graphic symbols, cad details, etc.
  • Meet all standards as outlined by Washington State Statutes (RCW) and Administrative Codes (WAC) specific to an individual profession regulated by state licensure

Education, Experience, Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture from a college or university accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB)
  • Two or more years of experience in the fields of site planning, site design, and landscape design
  • Experience utilizing AutoCad and LandFX, MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to secure a landscape architecture license in primary state of planned practice after requisite experience of practice is achieved

Position 2

Title:   Landscape Architect – Project Manager

Position Summary: Landscape Architect – Project Manager position at SCJ Studio Landscape Architecture, in our Ballard office, performing professional level planning, site and graphic design tasks in a support capacity for the project managers and principals throughout SCJ Alliance.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  (The intent of this list is to provide information regarding the types of duties of the position, but it is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.)

  • Meet all standards as outlined by Washington State Statutes (RCW) and Administrative Codes (WAC) specific to an individual profession regulated by state licensure
  • Desire to play a key role within the firm
  • Strong design and graphic skills that can be expressed in a variety of formats
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills that allow effective interaction with clients, agencies, co-workers and the public
  • Communicate with design team members, manage tasks and scheduling of junior staff
  • Professional oversight of junior staff, collaboration on design, redlines, reviews, overseeing the technical execution of work products
  • Knowledge of local land use regulations and the ability to interpret land use codes
  • Assist in the development of programs, schematics, and concepts in collaboration with junior staff
  • Assist in the development of construction specifications
  • Perform construction observation, review shop drawings, complete materials submittals
  • Participation in client meetings, public consultations and presentations

Education, Experience, Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree of landscape architecture from a college or university accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in the fields of site planning, site design, and landscape design.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCad and LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup
  • State licensure, or the ability and desire to secure a landscape architecture license
