Shady Island River Park
Our team led the Master Planning phase of this 10.5-acre park project. Located 1.75 miles from the City of Gunnison limits and directly adjacent to Hwy 135, the project provides access to a beautiful site full of natural amenities and provides safe access to the Gunnison River for recreational and commercial boaters. The comprehensive community engagement process informed the master plan and culminated in a design that was quickly implemented. Shady Island River Park opened in 2021 with Phase 1 complete including a large parking area, restrooms, new access bridge, nature play area and two boat launch areas.
