Slate River Boat Launch
The popularity of paddleboarding and kayaking this stretch of the Slate River has exploded. The Slate River Boat Launch provides public access for small water crafts with simple, low-maintenance infrastructure. Natural and durable materials such as stone slab steps, boulder retaining walls and hardy native plant materials were used to create access down 12 vertical feet from the boat staging area to the water’s edge. Public art is expressed through cut steel panels that serve as windscreen, changing areas, and paddle board storage.
