The State Route 99 corridor that passes through Edmonds, Washington is currently unpleasant and unsafe for pedestrian and bicycle use, has a high car collision rate and does not reflect the unique identity of the communities it serves. SCJ is currently leading a team of engineers and designers to revitalize and re-envision the SR-99 Edmonds corridor as a safer, more robust thoroughfare that engages its businesses and residents. Design options proposed by SCJ will enliven the corridor and help it relate to the surrounding communities by expressing the character of existing districts along the corridor through creative interventions. Implementation of human-scale elements like way-finding signs, updated lighting and public art will create a more welcoming and safer corridor for all users. Focusing on transit oriented and mixed-use development, stormwater mitigation and urban design enhancements, SCJ will provide a comprehensive plan to create a healthier and more vibrant corridor that encourages multi-modal transportation and human-scale improvements.
