Historic Leschi Transformation
In Seattle’s charming Leschi neighborhood, this total backyard transformation was a test in efficient space planning where we created an inviting garden perfect for a quiet cup of coffee or a relaxing evening in the hot tub, while still providing space to entertain. Overhead lights span across the concrete paver patio and the artificial turf lawn creating one large outdoor room for gatherings of friends and family.
SCJ Studio coordinated with a structural engineer to cantilever the upper deck to maximize space for grilling and outdoor dining. The re-oriented stairs are multi-functional providing access to the upper deck, screening of the neighbor’s house, and a much-needed storage room below.
The use of artificial turf, native and drought tolerant plants, and Thermory decking make this backyard both beautiful and incredibly low maintenance. The before and after pictures truly speak for themselves.
