Aperture Amenities and Trail
This park honors the native riparian landscape of the Slate River while providing community gathering spaces and amenities. Native landscape areas are separated from the built landscape by a wide trail. A rustic stone patio with a custom gas fire pit sits perched over the river surrounded by native plantings, while the large picnic pavilion is framed by ornamental gardens. The generous multi-use lawn minimizes the need for high water use lawns on private lots. The adjacent River Trail is a public amenity for the Town of Crested Butte. Disturbed areas were restored with strictly native plants and rustic wood fencing is strategically located to protect sensitive habitat without being visually obtrusive.
